Experiments in the caterpillar binding.
6” x 4” x 1” 160 pages.
I didn’t like the chunky look of the caterpillar stitch across the spine, so I segued into a 2-needle Coptic binding. I do miss the look of one centipede crawling across the spine, but this instead takes on a neat effect of a Before & After picture between the back & front cover. Each insect pair is one continuous piece of thread.
In the classic caterpillar, the last few station holes remain unwrapped, leading to a feathery insect tail. I opted instead to modify it so all but the very last station is wrapped.
